bay area blooms.
flowers all over san francisco. from fisherman’s wharf, lombard, golden gate park and union square (the tulips are my favourite). with their fresh bursts of color and delicate, feminine frocks of petals, it’s no wonder that they’re such a rich source of fashion inspiration, and a perennial obsession of mine.

it’s been a rough week.
cheesecake from cafe on the ave.
i’m craving for something indulgent, but simple. like a rich creamy cheesecake, or a huge serving of bread and butter pudding, even cookies and milk. i’ve been so stressed out and tired it’s clearly affecting my mood, and this week feels particularly long-drawn. almost the weekend, but a deadline stands in [...]

the best mocha cake i’ve had.
mocha cake from cafe on the ave (yes, i used to go there alot)
this is what i call cocoa mocha perfection – layers of smooth mocha cream alternating with moist warm chocolate. the mocha cake is made fresh daily by one of the chefs there and personally recommended by a former barista of the cafe. [...]

clusters of spring
another toasty day thick with humidity – i’m staying indoors for once, lolling around the house and looking forward to going on holiday, to the sights and sounds of different cities.

the manhattan bridge…
from the brooklyn.
the weekend’s here = time to get my weekly fix of gossip girl.

the way it should be.
as seen from a sign leading to a chocolate store in the gentrified neighbourhood of beacon hill, boston.

love is in the air…
this was an accidental shot!
but well, the blooming of the cherry blossoms clearly does fill the air with romance, doesn’t it?

that pink hello kitty bike.
in performance bicycles on roosevelt way.
i can totally imagine riding one of these retro-inspired bikes, perhaps complete with a basket and some streamers if i’m feeling particularly whimsical. i’ve outgrown my hello kitty phase, but i wouldn’t mind having a test ride on one of their bikes or investing in a non-feline one.

under the weather.
jogging on 8th.
it’s been a bit of a rough week for me, mainly because i fell ill and missed two days of work. not that there was alot of catching up to do, but also because even after missing two days, i still don’t feel well. the throat’s sore and i keep on having to [...]

something sweet.
strawberry crepes at last year’s university district street fair
i’m still flu-ey, and my sweet tooth is getting the better of me. honey water doesn’t quite cut it.

eggs benedict.
eggs benedict with a side of potatoes from cafe on the ave. i chose the version with the toasted english muffin and canadian bacon.
right now, i’m nursing a slight cold and sore throat, and craving for some comfort food. last year, the seattle p-i ran a great feature (front page of the lifestyle section if i [...]

bombay grill.
chicken tikka masala with rice and garlic naan.
it was winter, and the smell of curry wafting from the restaurant (along roosevelt way) was too tempting to resist. the portions were small, but we savored every delicious bite and wiped out all the curry.

the metropolitan grill.
maine lobster bisque, artichoke hearts, prime porterhouse with steak house fries and sauteed mushrooms
the iconic metropolitan grill is one of seattle’s best-loved restaurant/steakhouses, having won many accolades for its prime beef and playing host to many a celebrity, sports star, politician, investment banker and clients of microsoft’s top brass.
it is the quintessential classic steakhouse, stately and elegant with its mahogany doors and tables, plush comfy booths, carpeted floors, [...]

happy feet.
it’s been one year of you and i.
of much love, laughter, and learning to give.
one year ago i knew not what the future held, but somehow it just felt right.
one year on, we’ve gone from seattle to singapore, and we’re at slightly different stages in our lives
but my feelings haven’t changed one bit, if anything they’ve [...]

it’s never this beautiful here…
exiting uw.
bring back the days of sunshine, blue skies and cool breezes, and put a spring in my step.
it’s been an otherwise well fed and lazy weekend.

white out.
from last year post spring break, cherry blossoms in the quad, uw campus.
beautiful, isn’t it? thus began what i believe will be a lifelong obsession with cherry blossoms.

waffles on sunday morning.
at cafe on the ave.
so this was a weekend thing for me, warm chewy waffles with (generous) dustings of icing sugar, slathered with butter and drizzled with maple syrup.
sweet.

cheesecake in the park.
delacorte fountain, city hall park, nyc
in this blistering heat, i’m longing for some cool respite. stumbled upon city hall park after visiting the bull near wall street and sat there to eat my strawberry cheesecake while people watching. i love how manhattan has all these parks amidst the skyscrapers and the urban landscape in general.
it [...]
